StatSheet's Summit League Player of the Week for January 16th goes to Warren Niles from Oral Roberts. StatSheet's Summit League Freshman of the Week goes to Obi Emegano from Western Illinois. Also, Chad White from South Dakota State is the StatSheet Summit League 6th Man of the Week. Niles put up 50% shooting, 16 points per game, and 6.5 rebounds per game. The Oral Roberts junior led the way to victories versus Western Illinois and IUPUI.
Niles totaled 7 rebounds and 3 steals in 48 minutes in a close 71-70 win over Western Illinois. He followed that up by leading the team in scoring with 23 points plus an additional 6 rebounds in an 81-71 win against IUPUI.
This is the first StatSheet Summit League Player of the Week award for Warren Niles. However, he has been a runner-up once. The runner-up this week is Oakland senior Reggie Hamilton. Honorable mention goes to our own Alex Young.
StatSheet Summit League Freshman of the Week: Western Illinois's Obi Emegano
Obi Emegano averaged 42 minutes as a starter for Western Illinois. He led all Summit League freshmen in scoring (15.0 pts per game). In a 71-70 loss to Oral Roberts, Emegano topped the Leathernecks in scoring with 17 points on 100% shooting. In a 65-55 loss to Southern Utah, he totaled 13 points and 3 steals.
This is the first StatSheet Summit League Freshman of the Week award for Obi Emegano. The runner-up is Taevaunn Prince from South Dakota State. Honorable mention goes to Corey Petros from Oakland. The highest ranking freshman from IUPUI was Lyonell Gaines who finished 5th.
StatSheet Summit League 6th Man of the Week: South Dakota State's Chad White
Chad White, a sophomore and a 6-6 guard, averaged 27 minutes over two games for the Jackrabbits. In a lopsided 86-56 win over South Dakota, White added 8 points and 8 rebounds. Then in a strong 85-58 win over Missouri-Kansas City, he racked up 5 rebounds and 100% shooting.
This is the second StatSheet Summit League 6th Man of the Week award for Chad White. Mario Hines, a junior guard from IPFW, is runner up. Steven Roundtree, a sophomore forward from Oral Roberts, receives honorable mention. IUPUI has yet to win StatSheet Summit League Player of the Week.
